Simon Le Bon - in cahoots with Duran Duran's Nick Thodes - will reveal a side of himself we've never seen. His vocals apparently scale new heights in an as-yet-unchristened project (maybe the Power Trip, Part II?) the pair is recording in Paris. Joining them are Duran drummer Roger taylor, former Roxy Music sax player Andy Mackay, percussionist David Van Tieghem, jazz bassist Mark Eghan, Late Night with David Letterman drummer Steve Jordan and Japanese guitarist Masami. A single, due out in June (look for the LP in the fall), is supposed to sound nothing like Duran Duran (they all say that), but it has caught the ear of director Ridley Scott (Blade Runner), who is using one of the tracks, "El Diablo," on the soundtrack of his film Legend. Scott may also work on a "visual project" to accompany the Le Bon-Rodes LP. Meanwhile, Simon is thinking about . . . acting. But he'd better think about that underwear - tacky. |
